Prevalence of burnout syndrome in university students: A systematic review

Introdution. Burnout syndrome is a social and health problem in college students. Objective. To synthesize evidence from previous studies on the prevalence of burnout university students their three-dimensional approach. Method. The search strategies followed PRISMA guidelines were based following descriptive terms: “burnout,” “studies,” “prevalence,” “students.” Pubmed, Web Science Core Collection, PsicINFO, Scielo consulted. An evaluation quality information was carried out applying STROBE positioning guidelines. Results. We found 1,406 that reduced to 46 for final analysis using statement, eventually leaving 20 studies. One study (5%) conducted North America, five (25%) Asia, nine (45%) Latin Europe. Of evaluated systematic review, those had best overall selected discussion, corresponding 10 (out 75% STROBE). Overall each dimension estimated at 55.4% emotional exhaustion, 31.6% cynicism, 30.9% academic efficacy. Discussion conclusion. Moderate levels prevail different populations careers worldwide. In only few low this could be due multiple evaluative variables.
